A Design Made for Renewable Energy

At the heart of Kings Cross, this commercial building was designed with tunnels integrated into the pitched roofline. This
mimics the Network Rail tunnels below, whilst providing a generous 36000 sq ft. One of the main drivers for the buildings
diagonal design, was to improve the orientation for heat gain as well as complimenting the flow of the surrounding
architecture.

Challenge

To adhere to the buildings target of a BREEM Outstanding rating, Ablaze were appointed to design and install the solar PV
system to the roof space totaling 164 square metres.

Solution

Partnering with Redworx, Ablaze installed 102 high efficiency solar
panels which provide 28 kilowatt (kW) of power. The diagonal design
and south facing orientation of the panels ensured a generous yield,
translating as a 10 % reduction in the buildings electrical consumption.

Client Testimonial

“Ablaze recently completed an installation over at Kings Cross, Q1
consisting of 102 PV panels located on a ridged, metallic roof. Their
pre-construction information was issued promptly and any queries
raised by the client were answered straight away. The install team was
polite, helpful, and very knowledgeable. All in all a good install was
done by the Ablaze team.”
