Solar Array Powers Diamond Verification Site

De Beers Technologies UK Ltd is based in Maidenhead and as part of the Scientific R&D Industry, manufactures automated
methods for diamond verification, sorting and other detection equipment. De Beers Group as a whole, value sustainability
investments and carbon footprint initiatives, and incorporated into their energy efficiency plans the site underwent a complete roof replacement.

Challenge

To produce a Solar PV System that utilized the 2500m2 roof space, as well as providing enough
energy to help offset their carbon footprint. De Beers are a sustainability focused company and
this install helped guide the company’s journey towards being carbon neutral by 2030.

Solution

Ablaze were contracted to design, install and commission a 100 kWp system. The designed
solution comprises of 334 polycrystalline panels (300Wp), mounted on a proprietary selfballasted roof system; the panels are mounted on rubber feet, thus protecting the new roof surface. The south facing
600m² system generates 89,200 kWh per year, resulting in cost savings on
